Recycling Collections - No Manual Handling
Problem - Manual Handling is slow with only small items or containers being able to be loaded. Slow loading results in less collections possible per vehicle per day resulting in poor utilisation of the collection vehicle. Risk of injury cannot be ignored with common risks including lifting heavy or awkward objects, repetitive strain injuries, back problems, pulling pallet trucks over uneven ground and up / down gradients or working at height issues with potential falls from the vehicle during loading. In summary operations using manual handling are generally inefficient, pose risk of injury and are often only used due to the low capital investment requirement. |
