Inconvenience - To make collections using fixed mounted lifting equipment (hook-loader, skip-loader, crane, tail-lift) the LGV must be driven to close to collection point. This means there needs to be enough space in the recycling centre for the LGV to manoeuvre. In many recycling centres this can only be achieved by shutting the recycling centre during collections. When using hookloaders and skiploaders extra space is needed to enable the LGV to unload the empty skip, remove the full skip, reposition the empty skip ready for filling, then lift the full skip for the last time and depart.
Solution - Using a Palfinger truck mounted forklift the LGV can be parked in a convenient place and then the TMF can travel to and from the collection point. This means far less space is required around the collection point during collections. The result is that the site can often continue business as usual during collections with the TMF working in a cordoned off area and / or working with a banksman. It also offers the possibility for recycling centres to be smaller and therefore allowing more sites to be opened offering greater potential of recycling. |
